Is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare on the Xbox Game Pass Subscription?

Call of Duty: Modern Warefare is certainly one of the top Call of Duty games to come out in the last while. The question many gamers are asking themselves is when will the latest Modern Warefare be available under the XBox game pass subscription?

Free vs Paid Version

Currently Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has a free version titled Call of Duty: Warzone which allows anyone to play competitively in an arena based map. This decision was clearly made in order to compete with the huge rise of free to play competitive titles such as PUBG and Fortnite.

However, with the steep price of $60 for the Standard Edition, considering the free version is where most of the fun happens it can be understandable hard for many fans to drop the extra cash on additional content by purchasing the Standard Edition.

Benefits of the fully paid version include a single player campaign, tactical co-op modes, additional competitive game modes, and additional earnable in-game rewards which can also be used in the standard Warzone arena along with other features.

Reviews of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have been generally very positive citing a well polished campaign that doesn’t shy away from the classic COD formulae that fans love. For many casual and hardcore players alike, however, the true fun is still in the Warzone arena which can be accessed without paying anything extra.

Xbox Game Pass Subscription Inclusion

The Xbox game pass subscription is an amazing alternative to buying games for gamers on a budget who want to try out as many different games as possible without breaking the bank. Currently, it features many top titles including games such as Red Dead Redemption 2, Gears 5 and The Witcher 3. Notable, however, is the fact that many of the games in the Xbox game pass library tend to be slightly older titles that have passed their day in the sun as the top selling titles of their era.

It stands to reason that, given time, Xbox may make a deal to include Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in their game pass for fans to be able to experience the top notch campaign and other features without forking out a premium for a game that is already primarily free to play in nature.

Despite this there is no guarantee that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be included in the game pass anytime soon, but there is certainly still the chance they could include it considering that popular games such as Gears 5, which was released around the same time as Modern Warfare, are already available on the pass.

Unfortunately, one downside is that Activision tend to not include their games in the Xbox battle pass and these decisions are usually a partnership between Microsoft and the game publisher based on a numer of factors, including whether or not the game is already selling well and how the publisher hopes to handle distribution of their games in the long run.

Is it Worth Waiting?

The tricky question for fans of the latest Modern Warefare who are using the Xbox battle pass subscription is whether or not it is worth waiting to see if the game will be included one day in the future.

This is a very tricky question to answer, but the short of it is that there is no guarantee the game will be included in the future. For fans who are set on experiencing the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, we’d recommend taking the dive and getting the game rather than waiting for a possible inclusion that may never come.

For those who have an interest in the full game but who wouldn’t be terribly upset if they never got around to experiencing the campaign considering how amazing the free Warzone version already is, we’d recommend waiting it out in the case that it may be including in the Xbox battle pass in future. After all, at the very least it is conceivable that the games price may drop in future on top of possible being included in the game pass one day. Keep in mind considering the huge popularity of COD, if it is included there is a greater chance that it will only be included in many years to come, for example even after the next Call of Duty game launches.

The bottom line is if you have the patience, it could certainly be worth waiting to see, but if you are 100% set on getting the game, then the wait could turn into a pipe dream and it may be worth simply taking the dive for the full version today rather than waiting for some time only for it to never be included at all.
